My favourite place I visited all my life was New York City, New York, United States, all because of the feeling the big city gave me of living in a real world. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach flipping around when I arrived at the airport in New York City. As I hopped on to my taxi to my hotel, I started realizing that New York City is even more astonishing and jaw-dropping than I thought. It is completely different from the city I'm used to, Vancouver. What an enormous city with countless busy people. As I stood at the street intersections under gigantic buildings that are crammed together, I saw people rushing to places they were suppose to be, waiting for buses with earphones in their ears, living in their own little worlds only to be interrupted by bustling traffic and honking cars. Yet, it is exactly because of the hard working people, us tourists can enjoy the breathtaking sights of New York City. The luxuriousness of the buildings and shopping centres, the colourful screens and the humorous entertainers at Times Square, and the lovely view of the island where Statue of Liberty is located gave me an even more superb impression of this charming city. Standing on top of the Empire State Building, looking at this incredible city view made me imagine what it would be like to grow up someday and have a home in the middle of these lively streets. Thanks to New York, I had my first experience of discovering a whole new world, and I will very much look forward to seeing this unbelievable city again.
